Dear Mr. Taylor,
As you reflect on and celebrate 100 years of accomplishments, the thing of which you should be most proud is your role as a father. Your daughter Mary Helen, is one of my dearest friends and has been both a professional and personal mentor. I know you as her father first and foremost. One of my favorite quotes is from Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird and Go Set a Watchman – “She did not stand alone, but what stood behind her, the most potent moral force in her life, was the love of her father.” Clearly Mary Helen would not be the woman she is without you being the moral force in her life.
I’m including here a picture of from our days at Valley View Elementary. It was taken the year you were the Grand Marshal in our Red Ribbon Parade and my dad drove you in his buggy at the start of the parade.
Much love,
Denise Briggs
